PORTLAND - Kerry M. Shaw, 83, of Belfort Street died on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with his loving family by his side.
Kerry was born in Portland, Maine on October 15, 1929 the son of Raymond E. and Ethel A. Hutchins Shaw. He attended local schools and graduated from Deering High School in the class of 1947. Following high school he enlisted and served in the United States Navy after serving he attended Penn State University for a short time.
On June 27, 1953 he married Shirley J. Hayes and together they made their home and raised their family in Portland. Kerry worked for Southworth Machine Company as a Quality Control Manager retiring after more than thirty seven years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed working around the house and tending to his gardens. He was an avid Boston Red Sox’s and New England Patriot’s fan. He also enjoyed playing golf with friends. He was a life member of the Portland Order of Elks and the Stevens Avenue Congregational Church.
Kerry was predeceased by three sons Kevin, Kent and Michael Shaw and one brother Robert Shaw. He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty years Shirley Shaw of Portland; a daughter Laurie E. and her husband Andrew Cordes of Biddeford; a brother John and his wife Marcia Shaw of Kittery along with several nieces and nephews.
