April 8, 2013

Melvin Weiner, 63, of Kennebunk, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2013 surrounded by his family.  Melvin was born in Boston, Massachusetts and attended Boston Latin School and the University of Massachusetts.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Kunkle, and daughters Liane Weiner of Kennebunk, and Chelsea Weiner of Lincolnville.  He has one surviving sister, Sheila Goldman of Stoughton, Mass and his loving nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as a large community of friends throughout New England and beyond.  He was pre-deceased by his sister, Ronnie Weiner, and parents Sylvia Weiner Michelson and father Jacob Weiner.
Melvin was a Key Account Sales Manager at Sellers Publishing, Inc., in South Portland for 19 years, and he was instrumental in making Sellers one of the largest calendar publishers in the world.  He previously worked in sales and marketing at Millrock, was a practicing massage therapist and was an owner of Renaissance Greeting Cards.  Melvin’s primary passion on a personal level was working to promote world peace.  He contributed thousands of hours of his time to doing volunteer work for Pathways To Peace, a non-profit organization located in Larkspur, California, and to promoting The United Nations International Day of Peace, which is celebrated worldwide on September 21st.  He was a loving husband, father and friend.  He will always be remembered for his very upbeat approach to life, his penchant for making every person he met feel valued and appreciated, his big heart and caring soul.
There will be a private family service, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to:
