Falmouth - David W. Parker, 70, of Falmouth died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, January 12, 2014.

David was born in Portland, Maine on May 2, 1943 son of John D. Parker and Audrey (Riley) Ridge.  He was a graduate of Deering High School, class of 1961.  From the early years David was very fond of physical activities.  He was on the swim team, baseball and football team as well as track and field.  He excelled as a linebacker in football and played for the semi-pro Portland Seahawks in his early twenties.  David still holds the Deering javelin record.

In 1967 he married Carol Lankau, began building a house and started a family, which was his greatest pride and joy.  With his family he enjoyed hiking, fishing, boating, skiing, and camping in the great outdoors.  For many years he officiated both high school and college football. He coached his kids’ little league baseball and softball teams and officiated games as well. For 27 years David was on the volunteer ski patrol at Pleasant Mountain.  He found great joy in helping injured skiers off the mountain and cherished the friendships built on the patrol.

David is pre deceased by his parents and step father Coleman F Ridge.  Surviving is his wife of 46 years Carol, son Kurt W. Parker, his son’s fiancé, Leesa L. Duncan of Bellingham, WA, daughter Amy Y. Parker of Cumberland; daughter Ellen A. Beecroft, son in law Matthew J. Beecroft and his granddaughter Delphina Ann Beecroft of Seattle, WA; his sister Barbara (Ridge) Lalumiere, her husband Glen and their children Megan and Brian all of Portland.  Also surviving is a very large extended family who he enjoyed spending time with and loved dearly.
