Scarborough – Everett Preston Lovering, 98, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough.  He was born in Brooklin, Maine on August 15, 1915, the son of Everett L. and Emma (Hamilton) Lovering.   As a child, he spent time between Maine and Massachusetts.  

Everett enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during World War II.  Everett was a very hard worker and good provider for his family.  He enjoyed playing piano and organ and had an amazing ability to hear a song just one time and be able to sit down and play it himself.   He also loved his time with his family and always had a tradition of cooking blueberry pancakes for his wife and children.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hazel (Smith) Lovering of South Portland, their daughters; Kathleen Negley and her husband Elwood of Lenoir, North Carolina, Linda Lovering of Meriden Connecticut, Priscilla Bushey and husband George of Portland and Ivy Martin of Portland and their son Chris Lovering and his wife Linnea of South Portland as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
