April 5, 2014

Stephen A. Enos, 69, of Parsonsfield (formerly of Limerick), passed away Saturday, April 5th, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME.

He was born at home in Boston, MA, on June 26, 1944, to James A. and Mary A. (Burke Enos) Landers.  He attended primary and secondary schools in Billerica, MA, and later received his GED through Sacopee Valley Adult Education, So. Hiram, ME.

He married Lorraine Duca on October 19, 1963, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends.  Together they raised 4 daughters.
Steve enjoyed exploring the US, as was evident during his time as a long haul truck driver.  Throughout his life, he often could be found exploring back roads, or taking a little ride as he would say, with his wife as his co-pilot, never sure where they would end up and always excited about the unknown.  This interest proved useful during his 25+ years as a 911 dispatcher at York County Communications.  He took pride in serving the community he loved, volunteering over the years with the Limerick Fire Department, as a founding member of Limerick Rescue, York County Wilderness Rescue, with the York County Emergency Management Agency, as the current Director of the Town of Parsonsfield EMA, many years with the Ossipee Valley Agricultural Society, as well as countless committees in and around his home.

Steve found great pleasure in the outdoors and, prior to mobility issues, was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, though he would say his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, never missing, and often creating, opportunities to be together with his family. Steve is best known for his sense of humor, kind and gentle nature, and his willingness to help others. He was a gifted story teller, mesmerizing any and all that were privileged to hear. Regardless of the topic or significance of the event he shared, he had the ability to draw listeners in and left you eagerly awaiting the next.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine (Duca) Enos of Parsonsfield, ME; his four daughters, Lorene (Enos) Lemieux of Acton, ME; Patti (Enos) and husband Robert Richardson, Jr. of Limerick, ME; Deborah (Enos) Yandow and partner Jon Mongeon of Essex Junction, VT; and Suzanne (Enos) and husband Kellon Alexis of Biddeford, ME.  Grandchildren Paul Enos and wife Sarah and children Isabel and Katrina of Lyman, ME; Heather (Enos) and husband Michael Iosua III and children Adira, Drake, and Aurora of Acton, ME; Robert Richardson III and Victoria Richardson of Limerick, ME; Bradley Yandow and Kylie Mongeon of Essex Junction, VT; and Rubyanne Alexis of Biddeford, ME.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary Landers.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 3rd, from 2:00-6:00pm at The Town Club, 4 Washington Street - 4th Floor, Sanford, ME.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to your local Fire and EMS Department.
