Falmouth- John A. Corliss died peacefully May 1,2014 at Falmouth by the Sea after a brief
illness. He was born in Portland Nov. 10, 1939 the son of Kenneth H. and Ann T. Corliss.
He was a lifelong resident Portland and attended Portland schools. He was a communicant
of St. Pius Church. He served as a member of the Maine National Guard. He was
employed in corrections at the former Boys Training Center of South Portland and retired
after 32 years of service. He was a avid golfer and was a member of Riverside and Vall
Halla Golf Courses. His other interest included hunting,fishing,history,cooking and artwork.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Margaret A. Brueck and his brother
Patrick K. Corliss. Surviving is his sister Catherine J. and her husband Peter S. Hannigan
of Portland and his brother Peter P. and his wife Carolyn M. Corliss of Scarborough as well
as many nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the staff at Falmouth by the
Sea for the caring and compassion they gave John.
Services will be private.
