Claire Therese Stoncius, formally of Nashua, NH, passed away at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine, with her husband and family by her side.   She was predeceased by her parents, Bernard S and Jeanne (Bousquet) Noel.

Claire was a 1959 graduate of St. Louis High School in Nashua and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Anselm's College in 1963.  She began nursing that same year at St. Luke Hospital in New York City and was a pediatric nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in the early 1960's.  Later, she taught elementary and junior high school students at St. Joseph's School in Nashua.  She then worked as a school nurse for the Nashua School System for the next ten years, and subsequently taught health at Nashua High School for seventeen years.  She enjoyed the interactions she had with her students, who consistently provided her with a fresh look a life and its challenges.

Claire is survived by her devoted husband Vito, to whom she was married to for 51 years, along with her loving son Gary, his wife Dorothy and beloved grandson Noel.  She leaves behind her brother-in-law Frank and his wife Marilyn, brother-in-law Stanley, sister-in-law Bertha Savickas, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Per Claire's request, funeral services will be private.   A celebration of her life will be held in the near future.

Because of Claire's empathy for sick children and their well-being, contributions may be made to Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Maine.
