Portland – Jane Avery McNeil, beloved daughter of Michael and Nancy McNeil, died on Sunday, March 1, 2015.  She was born on September 20, 1963 in Bangor, Maine.

A graduate of Bangor High School in 1982, Jane was a cheerleader, member of Sub Deb Sorority and tri-captain of the girls’ swim team.  She spent summers as a lifeguard and water safety instructor.

With a degree in Early Childhood Education from Westbrook College, Jane began working in Bangor’s early intervention programs and later became lead teacher for Head Start.  Relocating to Portland in 1989, she was employed for many years at the Falmouth Rite Aid where her co-workers became some of her closest friends.

Jane appreciated music, was a great cook and loved having a baby in her arms.  Her sense of humor, often self-deprecating or accentuated by a dance performed as if no one was watching, was a source of laugh out loud comedy for her friends and family.  If anyone needed anything, she would give them the shirt off her back even if she did not have another for herself.  Jane was beautiful and kind, and when she said “I love you,” she really meant it.  Her spirit will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her parents, children; Michael J. Robinson (Vanessa), Thomas W. Robinson and Elizabeth Jane Davis. Grandsons; Michael and Pierce Robinson, sisters; Marcia McNeil, Sally Delisle(Steve) and brother Matthew McNeil (Laura), and nephews; Nathan and Matthew Doskocil, Cameron and Hudson Delisle, and Kade and Ryder McNeil.

A memorial service will be held at the Foreside Community Church, Falmouth, Maine on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 2:00pm.  There will be a reception at the church following the service.  To share memories and condolences with the family, please go to www.coastalcremationservices.com
