Portland, ME - Fredrick C. Durst, 86, sailed away to be with Jesus on March 27, 2015 at Maine Medical Center.  Born in Lakewood, Ohio on Feb. 28, 1929, the son of Frederick Durst and Evelyn (Young) Durst.

He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1948. An Engineering graduate of Bowling Green State University, Ohio he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Fred loved and served his country in the U.S. Navy as an aviator from 1952-1956. This pride extended to his son and grandson who followed in his footsteps to serve selflessly for freedom.   Fred spent the majority of his career with the Eberhard Manufacturing company rising to the position of Managing Director. In 1978 he moved to Portland taking over the directors position with the Danforth Marine products company.  
 
A Portland Yacht Club member for 29 years, Fred and his wife Marilyn were passionate sailors with their dear friends.  Another love of Fred's was his church, Foreside Community Church. A dedicated member since the 1970's Fred served as a Deacon as well as the Co-chair of the worship committee.  One of Fred’s greatest passions was his leadership role at the Center for Grieving Children.  Fred's greatest gift was his ability to listen and hear others for over 25 years.
 
Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn Corliss Durst in 2008 and their son Robert Foley in 1998. Fred is survived by his two sons; Scott Durst of Falmouth and his children Devin Durst and Cody Durst and his wife Amber; David Durst and wife Karen Durst of Reno, Nevada and their children Laura Lee and Daniel; Fred's two daughters Robin (Durst) Brown and her husband Eric and children Dana and Jenna Brown in Cleveland, Ohio; and Carolyn Foley and Ann Cox of South Portland as well as Fred's daughter-in-law Lynn Foley of Falmouth and children Becca and Ben Foley.
A Celebration of Fred's life will be on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 11am at the Foreside Community Church, 340 Foreside Road, (RT 88), Falmouth, Maine.
