Portland – Stanley F. Lear, Sr., 85, of Portland, passed away on April 3, 2015. He was born in Limington on July 16, 1929, the son of Francis and Dorothy (Tufts) Lear. After school, Stan served in the U.S. Army.
After the Army, Stan returned home to Maine to work and raise a family. He worked for many years as a cab driver as well as a painter. In his free time, Stan enjoyed playing golf with his sons and fishing. One of Stan’s proudest accomplishments was his 42 years of sobriety through being a part of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Stan was predeceased by his parents, his wife Marjorie (Pulsifer) Lear, his sister Eleanor Reed and his granddaughter Melissa Villers. He is survived by his sons; Stanley F. Lear, Jr, Robert Lear, his daughter Frances Burns, his step-son Edwin Sprague, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and friends.
