Ina (Nicky) Tibbetts of South Portland, Maine, formerly of Kennebunk, Maine, died June 20, 2015. She was born in Liverpool, England on March 23, 1918, to John and Annie E. (LeCouteur) Simpson. She was one of 8 children. Nicky was educated in English schools and was employed in the American Consulate in Liverpool and later in the American  Embassy in London, England.

Nicky was married in Rangeley, Maine, to Orren A. Tibbetts. Their marriage was terminated in divorce in 1975. They had two children -a son. David Orren, who died in 1976 and a daughter, Elizabeth Rena (Betsy) who survives. She is also survived by one sister, Lesley Breeze of Tasmania, Australia. Nicky has several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great grandnieces and great grand nephews.

Nicky’s interests followed those of her husband who was in business in Kennebunk and those of her children. She took part in all their school activities. She was a Cub Scout mother and a Girl Scout leader for several years. She served on the board of the YWCA camp, Laughing Loon, the Board of Kennebunk Public Health and was a Trustee of the Kennebunk Public Library where she later worked for some years. She and her family were long term members of the Unitarian Church of Kennebunk where she served on various committees.

In South Portland Nicky attended the First Congregational Church. She was a longtime volunteer at the South Portland Library. Although she did not quilt she belonged to two quilt guilds and attended many quilt shows with her daughter.

There will be no service. In March a party celebrating Nicky’s 97th birthday was held. It was a true celebration of life. Everyone who could attend was happy, especially Nicky.  No greater tribute could be paid to this incredible woman whose life touched so many in so many different ways.
