FALMOUTH, ME - Elizabeth Clark Barrington died July 17, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Leo Barrington of Falmouth ME, and by friends and far-flung members of the Clark, Raynor, Krause, Elmslie, Colombo, Brennan, Errico, Jordan, Case, Miner, Hooper, and Thomas families who are spread across the United States and Australia.

Liz was born March 30, 1945 in Concord MA and grew up in Sudbury MA, the daughter of the late Helen (Raynor) Clark and Alton Clark.  She graduated from Bates College and Simmons College and worked in education and human rights at Westford  Academy, Regis College, the University of Hartford, and the Long Island Fund for Women and Girls.

After living and working in Nigeria, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York, Liz and Leo settled in retirement in Maine, where they joined in the social justice campaigns of the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church, Amnesty International, the Project FEED food pantry, and Maine Voices for Palestinian Rights.


A memorial service will be held on~Saturday September 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Allen Avenue UU Church, 524 Allen Avenue, Portland ME.Liz will be remembered as a creative gardener, devoted lover of rescue dogs, fearless baker of amazing pies, intrepid traveler, accomplished quilter, and patient, generous and caring friend. Donations may be made in Liz's memory to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 U.S. Route One, Scarborough, ME.
