Scarborough:
GERALD ARTHUR RIDDLE, firstborn son of George and Pauline Poisson Riddle, passed peacefully from our midst on Sunday, August 9th at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Me. Jerry was born August 8, 1945 in Sanford, Me. After graduating from Sanford High School he served in the National Guard and continued working at the family owned service station. Thereafter he held numerous jobs and took technical classes before
establishing his own business specializing in sales and service of software proprietary to the auto body industry.

Jerry quipped that he had been offered numerous jobs and had never had to look for one. He declined an on-the-spot offer from the manager of a car dealership while selling automotive equipment and also refused a promising offer for an out-of-state job because it would take him away from his young daughters.

Jerry was a spontaneous, impetuous, adventurous man with a quick wit and infectious laugh who always took an interest in others - be it the waitress, store clerk or Red Hat Ladies. No room was quiet or tranquil while he was present. His first love was for live poker games, followed by movies and music. His love for movies continued even during his illness when he could do little else other than watch TV. Even then his laughter could be heard throughout the house. His passion for poker brought him many hours of joy and many stories of people he met while playing at different locations where life took him. He was particularly proud of his winner's jacket won at a small stakes game in Vegas.

Having taken organ lessons, impetuous and spontaneous Jerry announced one day that he had bought another organ - he just had to rent a van and drive to Ohio to pick it up. His interest in music included various styles; he enjoyed visiting venues where there was live music and dancing. It was at a ballroom that he met Sandra Taylor with whom he spent his final years.

When she answered one of his first questions to her by saying that she liked country rock music she could tell that he wasn't impressed but in time he came to enjoy that too.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents. Survivors include his daughter Christine Riddle and her son Garrett Hanscom of Arundel, Me., Jennifer (Brett) Jones and her daughter Elle Morris of Naples, Fl., brother Thomas Riddle (Aline) of Sanford, Me., aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Special to him were Emily Hildebran Pirela (Alonzo) and daughter Victoria of Houston, Tx., Jane Hildebran (Aaron Kimball) of Saco, and Michael Hildebran of Saco.

Sandra wishes to express thanks to Hospice of Southern Maine and staff at the Gosnell Hospice House for their wonderful care and compassion. Watch for a brick in their memorial walkway inscribed JERRY RIDDLE - KEEP LAUGHING.
