Beverly Jervis
Yarmouth, ME - Beverly Jervis, 80, of Devon, PA and Yarmouth, ME passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Gosnell Hospice House. At her side were her daughter April and her husband Dik.
Beverly was born January 9th, 1935 in Hustontown PA to Ray and Raye Lamberson. She grew up in Hollidaysburg PA and attended Hollidaysburg High School. Upon graduation she went on to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to study Home Economics. After marrying Dik, her husband of 60 years, the couple moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia where they raised their three daughters.
Always one to champion those in need, Beverly went back to school at Bryn Mawr College to study Social Work and Psychology. After working as a social worker for local agencies, she started her own counseling practice focused on family care and grief counseling. Always looking to challenge herself, Beverly returned to Bryn Mawr in the early 1980s to get her Masters in Psychology so that she could be her very best at the profession she loved. She continued her work until retiring in 2003.
In 2007 Beverly and Dik moved to Maine to be closer to their daughter April and her husband Jad. She spent her time enjoying her grandchildren and delivering witty one-liners, mostly at the expense of her husband and son-in-law.
Beverly is survived by her husband Dik; her three daughters and their husbands - April (Dieterle) and Jad, Dawn (Moore) and Greg, and Robyn (Lonto) and Rob; as well as her six grandchildren - Jake, Hayden and Luke Dieterle - Ben Kaplan - and Rachel and Ryan Lonto.
A celebration of life will be held in the chapel at Freedoms Foundation, Route 23, Valley Forge, PA. on Saturday, September 12, at 11:00 am. A luncheon to follow.
