RUTH ERNESTINE PEARCE THOMPSON
PORTLAND - Ruth Ernestine Pearce Thompson, 99, died peacefully in her sleep, November 5, 2015 at a nursing home facility in Portland. She was born
January 13, 1916 in Milton, MA, the daughter of Arthur A. and Nellie Pauline (Gahm) Pearce.
Ruth graduated from Bryant & Stratton in Boston, Massachusetts.  After graduation she worked at the Children's Museum there. In 1939 she married Roy
Edward Thompson, who had recently graduated from Boston University, and they settled in Wellesley, Massachusetts. In 1950 the couple moved to Maine to
begin farming. Ruth was an avid gardener, and she worked in retail for many years. She was a member of the Limerick Congregational Church and attended
services at the Woodfords  Congregational Church in Portland. After the death of her husband, Roy, in 1984, Ruth moved to Portland.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur and Frederick (Freddie). She is survived by her four children, daughters Carol Bajen-
Gahm and her husband Rex, of Torbay, Newfoundland, Wendy Morton and her husband Dana of Kennebunkport, Maine; sons Roy Thompson, Jr. and his wife
Sue of South Portland, Maine, Arthur Thompson and his wife Anne-Marie, of Sarasota, Florida; 8 grandchildren, David Morton of Weston, Florida, Timothy
Morton of Redmond, Washington, Leslie Heinemann of Victor, Idaho, Kristin Johnson of Syracuse, New York, Marta Johnson of Cookeville, Tennessee,
Jessica Johnson of Vancouver, British Columbia, Elena Thompson of Winter Park, Florida, and William Thompson of Brunswick, Maine; 14 great-
grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff of the Barron Center in Portland for the loving care Ruth received while residing there.
A memorial service will be planned for early summer in Limerick, Maine.
