Claire Gurley

Claire Gurley, 76 of Scarborough, Maine passed away peacefully in her home on January 18, 2016.
Claire was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on December 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Eugene and Gabrielle Mercier. A long time resident of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Claire worked over 30 years at Desnoyers Insurance Agency in Springfield, MA and became co-owner of the business until her retirement to Scarborough, Maine in 2004.
During her retirement, Claire was an active volunteer for the Scarborough Public Library, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, and Unity of Greater Portland in Windham, Maine. She traveled extensively and enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
Claire is survived by her 3 daughters, Laura Gurley-Mozie and her husband Steven Gurley-Mozie and their daughter Gabrielle Mozie of Scarborough, Maine; Nora Gurley and her husband Martin Church of~ Wendell, MA, Nora’s daughter Amber Mansfield and husband Michael Mansfield and their children Elias and Ethan of Greenfield, MA; and Lisa Hall, her husband Gary Hall and their son Samuel Hall of Brimfield, MA. Claire was predeceased by her husband Raymond Gurley of Ludlow, MA in 2001. She also leaves her brother Steve Mercier of Estero, FL and his daughters Karen Mercier and Stephanie Chapin, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will take place on~Saturday, January 30th~at 1PM at Unity of Greater Portland, 54 River Road, Windham, ME 04062.
