Mary Patricia “Pat” Burns of Portland, Maine died after a brief illness on February 20, 2016. Pat was born in Burlington, Vermont on October 30, 1924. The daughter of Joseph L. and Louise M. (LaFreniere) Burns, she was predeceased by her sisters Lois (Burns) Brown, Betty (Burns) Gardner and brother, Joseph F Burns. She attended Cathedral High School and worked at Porteous, Mitchell and Braun for many years. She worked for the Maine Muscular Dystrophy Association prior to her retirement. She is survived by her nieces and nephew; Patrice Baker and her husband Ricky of Suffern, New York, Marka O’Connell and her husband Gerard of Reading Massachusetts, Jeffrey Gardner and his wife Adrianne of Carlsbad California and Jennifer Gardner of Reading Massachusetts and life-long friend Betty Haggerty of Portland, Maine.
A private memorial service will be held in April in North Hero Vermont and interment will be at the Sanderson’s Corner Cemetery Fairfax, VT. Contributions in Pat’s memory may be made to the Mercy Hospital Foundation, PO Box 679 Portland, Maine 04104.
