James E. "Jim" O'Brien, 73, passed away on March 26, 2016, after a period of declining health at Maine Medical Center.~~He was born on July 31, 1942, in Chester, PA, the son of the late James E. and Mary (Collier) O'Brien.
Jim graduated St. James High School in Chester, PA. And studied at Williamson Trade School. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. After serving his country he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business from NH College in Manchester, NH. Jim was a loving, caring, man, husband, and father. His family and friends and grand dog Bailey meant the world to him. He loved all sports, especially the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was a member of the American Legion Post #178.~
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia (Soucy) O'Brien of South Portland, his daughters Kelly O'Brien and Jennifer O'Brien both of Manchester, NH. Three sisters and their spouses, Mary Ann and Thomas Chew of Glen Mills, PA, Nancy and Donald Jenkinson of Wayne, PA, Barbara and Ric Tull of Media, PA.~~Sister-in-law Jane Fucci of Litchfield, NH. Nieces and Nephews, Shellee Chew, Matthew Chew, Megan Fucci and Christopher Tull. The family thanks the staff of Maine Medical Center and The Maine Veteran's Home, Scarborough for the loving care that Jim received while there.~
A celebration of Jim's life will be held~on Saturday April 16, 2016 from 1-4 pm~at Easy Day Banquet Facility, 725 Broadway, South Portland, ME.~
