Sorya Sok Chea, 66 of Portland died June 2, 2016 in Portland.

Sorya was born in Battambang, Cambodia on September 3, 1949 the daughter of the late Chhneang and Soeum (Mith) Sok.  She was educated in Cambodia and came to the U.S. as a refugee from the Khymer Rouge Genocide in 1978 and worked in Florida before moving to Maine in 1982.

Sorya worked for Nichols Portland as a production worker retiring after 20 years of service.  

She enjoyed walks, and shopping.  In 2014 she suffered a stroke and one complication of the stoke was Aphasia.  It was through treatment that she came to enjoy the retreats and counseling sessions with all of the other patients suffering from Aphasia.  She had a big heart and visited sick friends many times.  She also enjoyed visiting the Buddhist Temple in Buxton.

Family members include her husband of 16 years, John D. Constant of Portland, 2 daughters, Sokuntheary Tang and Sapryng Tang and 4 grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters back in Cambodia.
