Harlan Page Hall, 61, of Portland, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on April 14, 2017. He was born April 6, 1956 in New Britain Conn., the third child of Oscar “Bud” Hall Jr. and Muriel Johnson Hall. He was named after his grandfather Harlan Page Johnson, who was named for Gov. Frederick Harlan Page.
He attended schools in Standish and Portland and received a state high school equivalency diploma on June 25, 1976. Harlan made a science project at Jack Elementary School, it was a banjo that he had used to be potty trained on.
Harlan joined the Marines and after his tour of duty came home to become a chef at a restaurant. He later became a hardworking mechanic at Bud Halls Auto on Riverside. Harlan liked making many savable items and his dedication to collecting coins was intense. His hobby camping in the woods was with very little purchased items, for 6 to 8 weeks at a time. He preferred to live off the land. Teaching his children the techniques of survival if ever in a bad situation. Walking trails close to home was necessary on weekends.
Harlan was predeceased by his grandparents; Harlan and Margaret Johnson, Wyman and Winnie Johnson, Oscar Sr. and Florence Hall; his father Oscar Jr.; siblings Eugene, Marlene, and Robert. He is survived by His Mother Muriel J. Hall; his loving sister Florence E. Hall. His children Tammy Jo and husband Glen Powell, Karen Maynard of South Portland, Darcie Maynard of Raymond, Stacey Maynard of Wesbrook, and Keith Wilcox of Naples; grandchildren Krystal, Tianna, Kaleb, Kaydance, Dane, and Liam; great grandchildren Carter, Willow, and Rowan; and many nieces and nephews too.
