Portland - Brian A. Butler, age 58, of Portland, Maine passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2017 at Maine Medical Center after a short illness.  He was born in Augusta, Maine on August 11, 1958, the son of Walter E. and Lillian (Bernier) Butler.  He attended Farmingdale, ME schools and graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1976.  Brian was honored by Freeport H.S. with an award bearing his name for his longtime service as scorekeeper for the Falcon athletic teams.
 
     He was employed by The City of Portland (Parking Div.) for 16 yrs, and previously worked at One City Center, Portland and Maine Medical Center (Security Div.).  He was an avid sports fan with the New York Knicks being his favorite team.  He enjoyed cheering for the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox as well.  He was a first season ticket-holder for the Maine Red Claws franchise and was a well known figure in the audience.
 
     He is survived by his domestic partner, Lorraine Day of Portland, ME; his stepmother, Cecile Butler of Augusta, ME; three sisters: Bonnie A. Rollins and her husband, Alfred of Lisbon, ME; Donna Henderson of Moyock, NC; Diana Butler Oddi and her husband, Mark of Gray, ME; two brothers: Barry Butler of Freeport, ME; Dr. Michael Butler of Erie, PA; and a sister-in-law, Claire Butler of Erie, PA. and several nieces and nephews.
 
     He is pre-deceased by his parents and his beloved cats: Oprah and Oscar.
 
     The family would like to invite you to attend visiting hours Monday, June 12th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm immediately followed by a Memorial Service at Coastal Cremation Services, 471 Deering Avenue, Portland.
