Edith “Edie” R. Tucker, 87, of Falmouth, died Sunday July 9, 2017 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough.  Born in New York City, N.Y., she is a daughter of Rexford and Nancy Newell Daniels.

Edie was a well-known artist in the Portland area.  She lived life to the fullest and opened her home to many.  She fully embraced the arts and was an avid active supporter of the Great Portland Arts scene. Whether sculpting in her Portland studio, ushering at a local theater, contra dancing at a country grange hall or patronizing an artist’s studio opening, she was always smiling, positive, supportive and encouraging.

She is survived by her children, Ellie Tucker of North Yarmouth, Sam Tucker and his wife Karen of Great Diamond Island, Edie Dubord and her husband Steve of Portland and Newell Tucker and his wife Cheryl of Brunswick, along with her sisters, Bobbie Oliver and Harriet Gardner and her husband John.

She is also survived by 8 grandsons and step grandsons and 3 great granddaughters.

A celebration of Edie’s life will be held at a later date.
