Michael Vadnais died peacefully with his wife and dear friend Donnette Sylvester at his side on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough after battling a long bout of cancer.  

He was born in Senova, Slovenia on March 23, 1960, the son of Mihael of Rozalija Hlastan. While in Slovenia he was in the Special Forces for approximately two years, after which he worked at a nuclear power plant for 25 years. He grew up in Slovenia and then moved to the United Stated in 2001 and then to Saco in 2010, he became a U.S. Citizen in 2012.

 He married the love of his life, Helen Vadnais on March 31, 2008. He enjoyed watching the European and World Cup Soccer Tournaments. He was also a fan of horse racing and spent weekends with friends watching the races.

He was predeceased by his beloved mother and brother of Slovenia.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Vadnais and his stepsons Nate Roberts of Baltimore, MD and Matthew Roberts of Saco, also by his father, Mihael Hlastan and his daughters, Alja and Laura Hlastan, his sister Vida and two nieces and a nephew of Slovenia, his father and mother in-law, Paul and Constance Vadnais of Biddeford, his brother and sister in-law Ron and Delores Vadnais of Port Orchard, WA, his niece Amanda Vadnais of Saco and several Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Hospice House for their incredible care and friendship especially to Polly. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
