PORTLAND – Patricia “Pat” Andros, 86, passed peacefully Thursday morning, October 5, 2017 with her beloved daughter by her side. Pat was born in Chillicothe, Missouri on June 21, 1931. The daughter of Donabel and Raines Griffey, Pat was raised in Missouri and spent a good part of her childhood with her sister Jackie on their grandparent’s farm. You could often find her out in the field or simply spending time with the animals in the barn. She graduated from Cameron High School in 1948.

Pat attended College in Cincinnati. After graduation she lived in England and France, and traveled extensively while working for the Army. Pat married in 1961 and moved to the suburbs of Chicago where she dedicated her life to raising her two children. Pat enjoyed tennis, skiing, cooking and entertaining for friends and family.

After twenty five years as a devoted wife and mother, she went back to work as a nanny. She loved being part of the families she cared for and kept in touch with many of the children. In 2001 Pat suffered a stroke and moved to Maine to be close to her daughter. Pat lived a rich full life and enjoyed reading, with her beloved cat Chester by her side, spending time with friends and family, especially her granddaughter.  Pat had a contagious laugh and always wore a smile.  She will be remembered for being warm and welcoming to all, funny, joyful and sometimes a little crazy!

Pat is survived by her children Susie Kendeigh and her husband Jason, of Yarmouth, ME, Phillip Andros and his fiancé, Megan Sklade of Joliet, IL; Her brother, Steve Kious of Phoenix, OR; Her nephew, Steven Whipple of Kansas City, MO; and her granddaughter Tori Kendeigh.  She is predeceased by her sister, Jackie Whipple of Kansas City, MO

Pat’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to all of her caregivers at Park Danforth and Brentwood Center who provided Pat with nurturing care and treated her with the utmost respect. All who cared for Pat said they wished every patient were like her…sweet and kind, with a great sense of humor that never complained.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
