We celebrate the life of Duffy White.  Born on Chebeague Island in Casco Bay on March 5,1932.  Raised in a fishing family, Duffy left school after 8th grade to help support his family.  He learned at a young age compassion and generosity which carried on throughout his entire life.  Duffy proudly joined the Navy in 1951 and was a Boson Mate during the Korean War until 1955.  He could entertain a roomful with his stories of touring the world on the USS Beatty.

Duffy became an active and loyal member of the American Legion Hall after moving to Kennebunkport.

In 1957, Duff met the love of his life, Helen Brown.  Together they raised four children, Blaine, Mark, Vicki and Wendy.  Then came his adored and cherished grandchildren, Seth, Nick, Colin, Cody, Ian, Brian, Kyle and Jayne.  He is also survived by his sister Roberta.

Duffy built four boats.  Three were named after his mother, Leona, who passed away when he was 9 years old.  He loved and supported his family and friends by generously and constantly giving of his time and talents.  Duffy was a mentor and touched the lives of many in his community.  He continuously shared his knowledge.  Knowledge of boatbuilding, carpentry, masonry, hunting, fishing, gaff making, raising a family and being a loyal husband for over 61 years.
So, when God created Duffy White, He realized that he was one of a kind and threw away the mold. The sailor’s sailor will be aboard a mystique craft on the seas.  Everyone who knew Duffy will feel a presence when they are on the ocean surrounding Kennebunkport.

So long our beloved sailor.  3/5/32 to 3/18/18

In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 Us Route 1 # 1, Scarborough, ME 04074.
