Margaret Moody Harris, 72, of Burlington, passed away on September 23, 2020, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Bangor on March 25, 1948, the daughter of Augustus D. Moody and Hope Harlow Moody. She graduated from Orono High School in the class of 1966. She attended St. Francis Xavier College in Antigonish, NS, Canada, for a year and completed a Bachelor’s in English at the University of Maine.
On February 2, 1974, a year when the groundhog wasn’t scared by his shadow, she married James H. Harris of Burlington. She retired from her much loved position at LL Bean. During her retirement, she traveled, sat on the board of a horse rescue charity, and wrote. She stepped down from her position as a Burlington selectman in the summer of 2020 for medical reasons.
She is survived by her husband James H. Harris, her brother Augustus J. Moody and his wife Diana Moody of Florida, her two daughters, Amy Harris Dlugosz and her husband Christopher Dlugosz of Minneapolis, MN, and Judith Harris of Portland, ME. A celebration of life and graveside service will be held in the spring.
