Peaks Island-Robert Gardner Tiffany, passed away peacefully of complications due to cardiac disease on May 5, 2021.

He is survived by his two sons, Sean Tiffany of Boulder, CO, and Josh Tiffany of Gray, ME, by his daughters-in-law Monika (Sean) and Heather (Josh), his grandson James Robert (Sean), and the “Hawaii Family,” all of whom will cherish him forever.~ He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years Julia (Jill) Churchill Tiffany.

Born and raised in Hopedale, MA, Rob was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut and a Marine Corps reservist. While working in public health in New York City after college, Rob met a young lady named Jill and they fell in love. After marrying in 1969, they moved to Connecticut and then Maine, eventually finding their forever home on Peaks Island in 1975.

Rob put his degree in Political Science to good use by working in pensions administration, becoming Vice President at Union Mutual.  In 1985, at the age of 42, Rob quit UNUM and took a year off where he participated in The Great American Peace March of 1986, walking from Ohio to Washington D.C. to raise awareness of the dangers of nuclear weapons.

Later he started his own company with a colleague and continued helping people with their retirement and financial planning.  Although the company flourished from his hard work, leadership, and passion, Rob pivoted again.  From his home office on Peaks Island, he founded Tiffany & Associates which he ran until his eventual retirement.

Rob was passionate about many things – first among them was family.~ Sports, music, politics, photography, and literature all followed closely behind.~ He counted himself blessed to outlive the curse and see his beloved Red Sox win not one, but FOUR world series titles.

A point of eternal joy was his beloved Peaks Island. He took great pride in working on the inaugural Peaks Island Council and helping to keeping Peaks Island a special and kind place. His warmth, infamous chuckles, compassion, and personality will sorely be missed by his community.

He was quick to laugh, consistently provided wisdom, knowledge, and a helping hand, and loved the life he and Jill built together in which, as he proudly said, “not one thing was planned.” He had the soul of a rebel and sought to change the world yet lived the best of a quiet and normal life.

A celebration of his amazing life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please hug someone you love, laugh deeply, and enjoy a good cup of coffee. If you wish, a donation to any Peaks Island charity in his honor would make a lovely tribute.

His family will always miss him, love him, and respect him more than words can say. Rob went by many names during his life, but the last one he received was his most cherished.

We love and miss you, Grampy T.
