Fung Chao
PORTLAND – Fung C. Chao “Lee Lee”, 48, passed away on a snowy January 7, 2022 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine surrounded by her devoted family. Lee Lee was born on September 15, 1973, in Battambang, Cambodia to Chhang and Khann (Deap) Chao.
Lee Lee had a passion for cooking Cambodian food; she would always cook more than needed. She enjoyed talking and laughing on the phone with her sisters in Cambodia and keeping in touch with her friends and family. She also liked taking trips to Lowell, MA to spend time with her brother, Victor. She always had fun shopping at The Maine Mall in South Portland. She loved trying her luck at the casinos and eating food at Chinese buffets with friends.
Recently, she enjoyed taking walks and watching the geese at Deering Oaks Park. One of her best memories was the times spent swimming with her husband Gary at White’s Beach.
She was predeceased by her parents Chhang and Khann Chao and her brother Victor.
Lee Lee is survived by her husband Gary A. Thomas Jr., and her large loving family.
A very special thank you to Dr. Megan Waterman MD, Ann, and the staff at Park Ave Greater Portland Health along with the CICU team at Maine Medical Center for the excellent care they gave to Lee Lee.
