Isobel Anable died peacefully in Portland Maine on October 13, 2023 in the loving company of her daughters. She was 84.
Isobel was born on November 12, 1938 in Cheshire, England to Maude Matilda (George) and Maurice John Peacock. Isobel played piano throughout her life and brought joy to her household with her talent. She was a great classical music appreciator and loved attending concerts. In her younger years, she enjoyed acting in school theater productions.

Attending boarding school at Claremont School in Esher, Surrey, England, she spent happy years playing sports and making lifelong friends. At 17, Isobel attended Principia College in Elsah, Illinois as an international student for two years and went on to take a job in Paris.
Isobel met her husband in London. Nine months later they were married and their love never waned over their 58 years together. She was her husband’s constant companion, editor, advisor, sounding board and cook.

Isobel was an avid reader, poet and gardener. She enjoyed hosting dinner parties for friends and colleagues. She volunteered as a reading tutor in public schools. Throughout many moves, Isobel was the family anchor, creating a warm, inviting home atmosphere wherever she lived. Isobel was preceded in death by her husband, David Anable and her brother John Maurice Peacock. She is survived by her children, Alexandra Anable, Tessa Anable and Perryn Anable Ferris, son-in-law Scott Ferris, and six grandchildren, Conrad, Andrew, Timothy, Cullen, Skye and Charlie.

She will be deeply missed.
